Professional Intelligence is the integrative capability through which professionals synthesise knowledge, evidence, experience, contextual understanding, ethical reasoning, metacognition and self-regulation to identify meaningful patterns, generate professional insight and exercise informed, adaptive and defensible professional judgement.
Professional judgement is the visible, situated expression of PI; it is not synonymous with the construct. PI names the deeper integrative capability that makes judgement possible and that can be confirmed, refined or reconstructed through subsequent inquiry.
The architecture

Professional Intelligence is expressed through a cycle rather than a checklist. Each dimension strengthens the others.
Evidence
Professionals notice, select and interpret signals that are sufficiently meaningful to inform action.
Context
Judgement remains situated in the learner, task, environment, purpose and ethical responsibilities of practice.
Judgement
Knowledge and evidence are synthesised into defensible decisions rather than applied as automatic rules.
Reflection
Professionals evaluate the quality and impact of their decisions so the next judgement becomes more precise.
What PI is not
More than knowledge. More than intuition.
Expertise describes what a professional knows and can do. PI describes how that expertise is mobilised in uncertain, contextual work.
Judgement is the observable decision. PI is the wider capability that generates, tests and refines it.
PI cannot be reduced to completing templates. Documentation should be the consequence of thinking, not a substitute for it.
AI can reduce cognitive load and organise information. It should not displace the professional reasoning through which PI develops.
